An unexpected trip, but a welcomed one. I found that every piece of artwork in this location was absolutely amazing and it housed some of my favorites of the whole trip. The biggest detail that I noticed within the RSA in Edinburgh is the amount of emotion located throughout the whole building; whether that be from the figures in the painting itself or the artstyle that the artist chose to use. Some featured characters that seemed to ooze character and emotion; elements in their faces and gestures contain so much personality that differienciates itself from other artworks from that time. The character above is just a small piece to a larger work inspired by the Shakespearian "A Mid Summer Night's Dream", and adds so much energy to an already energetic piece. The addition of the large eyes and the panicked pose really makes the viewer feel just as terrified as the figure that is looking at the creature. Even in pieces that did not feature figures, the artstyle created so much energy in subjects as simple as a vegetable still life. I loved the pieces during this trip and I am glad we went here.
Ilona Szekely: This is a strong piece to choose, and a great discussion. I am glad you enjoyed the RSA.
