I finally succeeded in descaling the Keuring coffee maker that resides in our kitchen, after several years of the descale button being lit. I had done the work of descaling, but the button kept telling me I wasn't doing it right. It turns out that I needed to press some buttons on the machine, and HOLD them down for 3 seconds. I'd been pressing them, but I'd also left the power light on, which, apparently, was wrong.

Anyway, I did it!! We celebrated by brewing a couple of cups of coffee. Then I noticed that there was a considerable puddle of water on the floor and countertop around the machine. I mopped it up, and left the reservoir connected to the machine, which resulted in another noticeable puddle. The scale was the only thing holding the poor machine together, is what I think. 

We have ordered a new machine, as I can't find where on the machine the leak is.
